Creative Cities is a global platform, funded by UNESCO, that promotes dialogue between cities which recognise that the cultural and creative economy can drive viable, sustainable urban development.

The Creative Cities programme was founded in 2004 as part of UNESCO’s Global Alliance for Cultural Diversity. Since then, hundreds of cities in more than 100 countries have become active members in the Creative Cities network, including several German cities. The members represent centres of excellence in one of seven key fields: film, music, design, gastronomy, media art, handicrafts and literature.
