Wind in the sails of arts education. At the world policy conference on Arts Education which took place in Lisbon in March 2006, UNESCO put on an international display of its achievements: "learning through amazement" is taking on ever greater importance as a source of creativity in modern knowledge societies. Korea is set to hold a follow-up conference in a few years’ time.
The German Commission for UNESCO supports arts education initiatives, such as the schools event "Active Monuments – Cultural Heritage Comes to School", held by the German Foundation for Monument Protection. The event stimulates interest in World Heritage and the preservation of monuments among young people.
